My Mission Statement

   Mission Statements

Mission statement are principles you want to follow throughout your life. They consist of values you hold dear and help you in leading a meaningful life. I read about mission statements in "The 7 habits of highly effective people" and the idea of writing my own mission statement immediately appealed to me. You can write your mission statements on a notepad or in a diary which you go through regularly or even have it written in your laptop or desktop (I have them written both in my diary as well as my laptop) wherever you can go through them once in a while. Each of your mission statement should reflect the values you hold dear to you, the values you want to inculcate in your behavior and the things you want to achieve in your life. By going through your mission statements once in a while you stay on track of your goals (maybe becoming a better speaker, fitter individual or a better person overall). Mission statements are an amazing way of discovering yourself (most individuals don't know who they really are and what they want in life). You should definitely try writing your mission statements. It will hardly take 10-15 minutes of your time and would be a great gift for you from yourself to stay on track and achieve your goals. Your mission statements can evolve with time, you can always work on them as you get yourself more and more everyday. With this in mind I would like to share my mission statements. Hope they help someone write their own mission statement.

My mission statements

  • To become an ideal man, one who completes his work, does it sincerely, gives time to family and friends and who inspires others to do their best.
  • To live a principle-centered life, for they are never changing and will always show me the right direction.
  • To plan for the next day, today.
  • To have short-term goals, and strive and do my best to achieve them.
  • To live happily in whatever I have and never compare myself with anyone, but my best-self.
  • To make the most efficient use of my time in doing something productive.
  • To be always willing to learn something new.
  • To never say no to someone in need, but also make sure to complete my work before helping others.
  • To never quit doing something, no matter how slow I might be at it, but to stop only after completing my job (success).
  • To complete the job at hand first before starting something new.
  • To always stay in the positive.
  • To incorporate some humor in my talk which makes everyone happy and doesn't hurt anyone.

To be the best I can in the following roles   :

  • Son - Always understand the love behind my parents worry. Always make them happy. Engage in intelligent discussion with them. Help them learn new technology.
  • Brother - Be the best brother I can be. See things from their perspective. Be a good friend with whom they can share their joys and sorrows.
  • Friend - Select friends carefully. Be true to them. Help them improve, even if I might have to get a little harsh with them. Share my joys and sorrows with them, help them do the same with me. Make them feel special, since they are special to me. Stay in their touch.
  • Student - Be a student of life forever. Always do my work sincerely. Respect my time and that of others as well. Learn and understand things. Stay true to my work. Be honest. Always prioritize completing my work before doing other less important things. Respect my teachers. Learn slowly but continuously.

Radiant Living

Significant Statement - Pursuing eternal happiness through Radiant living

How can Radiant living lead to eternal happiness?

  1. We will start living in the moment, enjoying each and every moment.
  2. We will start working on ourselves and improve ourselves every day which will lead to better productivity and satisfaction in all aspects of life.
  3. We will be ready for any challenge life offers us, learn from it and become a better individual.
  4. We will be contented with what we have and find happiness in helping others.

Firstly what is Radiant living? Radiant Living is living in sync with nature. It involves well being in all spheres of life, i.e. being at your physical, mental, material and spiritual peak. A Radiant individual spends his time in pursuit of worthy cause. He sets goals which challenge his limits and works hard to achieve them. Achieving this time bound goals is what brings him real satisfaction and contentment and is one of the means of achieving eternal happiness. A Radiant individual knows that his body and mind are his temple and takes good care of them. Radiant living involves living in harmony with your environment and respecting its each and every component which involves both animate as well as inanimate things. It involves knowing the importance of each passing moment and living life to the fullest with it. It involves forgiving your past and not worrying about your future while giving your best to the present. It involves a mind without any worries, a mind full of happiness, a mind which is your faithful servant and not a dominating master. Every passing thought is under your observation. Radiant living makes one understand that true lasting happiness can only be achieved by serving others in one way or the other. Radiant living is what I would call being enlightened.

  1. When we realize the importance of each passing moment and start living in the present we start enjoying our life. Our productivity goes up. We are not regretting about our past or are not worried about our future. When we give our best in the current moment, our future automatically gets safeguarded. We become who we are supposed to be. We move towards our destiny. Present moment is what we have, we have no control over our future nor can we do anything about our past. Radiant living means making sure that we make every moment count and each passing moment adds to out life either physically, mentally, socially or spiritually.
  2. When we start living in the moment we start improving ourselves in all spheres of life. We become super-productive. We realize what is important and focus all our energy in doing these tasks. This brings satisfaction which ultimately leads to inner harmony. We become calm and peaceful. We start seeing the beauty in small things which we were not able to see before. We start thinking on another level, spiritual level which is unknown to a normal mind. Our relationships improve so does our productivity.
  3. When we continuously improve ourselves, we become ready for any challenges life has to offer to us. We realize that every obstacle that comes our way brings equal opportunity hidden with it. Radiant living also involves inspecting our behavior every day, doing which we realize what we have done wrong and give ourselves an opportunity to learn from it and not repeat the same mistake again. This again helps us better ourselves and we gain wisdom doing so. When we realize that there are some things which are under our control and some things which aren't we understand where to put our efforts into. Thus if something happens in future for which we are not prepared, we respond instead of reacting and accept things peacefully which are not under our control. We are grateful even for such events as even these events teach us something which a normal flow wont have. We will no longer be worried about winning, but will be focused on giving our best.
  4. Radiant living involves pursuing happiness by achieving tasks, completing goals and doing things which we once thought we were not capable of doing. These tasks should in someway involve serving others as by helping others you are indirectly helping yourself . By making someone else's life better with our efforts we are improving their environment which in some way or the other will automatically improve our environment. Doing something for someone who cannot repay us back brings a sense of divine satisfaction which can only be experienced and cannot be penned down. A radiant individual raises his level by raising the level of others surrounding him.
